Samsung wants to take care of its customers better

You might remember that a few months ago Samsung introduced the Chromebook 2, which was offered with 11.6-inch and 13-inch form factors and an Exynos 8 octa-core processor from Sammy’s own garden.

But the company is also offering a third option, which comes in the form of an 11.6-inch model with an Intel Celeron N2840 chip-set that can run up to 2.58GHz and is fitted with 2GB of RAM.

Help is coming to the Samsung Chromebook 2

Anyway, Samsung is apparently testing an interesting feature for this Chromebook. You might remember Amazon debuted the Mayday video consumer service when it introduced the Kindle Fire HDX tablets last year.

This system allowed customers who were experiencing any kind of difficulty when using the device to get in contact with staffers from Amazon technical support who could help them resolve the issue 24/7.

Well, it seems like good old Samsung is taking some inspiration from Amazon and has decided to bundle its new Chromebook 2 with a similar service called “Get Help.”

For the time being “Get Help” will be available only on the Intel-powered Chromebook 2 to connect users to the Samsung support team. According to CNET, the service offers an experience quite akin to Google Hangouts.

Samsung says that if this feat proves to be popular, the company will consider adding it on to other products.

In order to connect to the Samsung helping staff, Chromebook 2 users will have to type “Chrome:help” into the address bar and download the update. Once you've updated, the “Get Help” button should appear on the bottom left of the screen.

Get Help differs a little from Mayday

There are a few differences between Samsung’s “Get Help” and Amazon “Mayday” services. For starters, the latter is a one-side video service, meaning that the Amazon representative can hear what you say but he/she can’t see you.

Samsung wants things to be more transparent so it has made things a two-way deal. Furthermore, Mayday is available 24/7 so if something goes wrong in the middle of the night, you have where to turn to. Samsung, on the other hand, says Get Help is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 4 pm PT.

Note that if yourChromebook is experiencing some real troubles, the technical troubleshooting will be sent further on to Google.

Back when it launched, the Mayday button was a real sensation among customers and a few months after Amazon said Kindle Fire HDX owners were so excited about it, 75% of them are actually addicted to it.

Samsung is probably counting to get the same enthusiastic feedback from users of the Chromebook 2, but this remains to be seen.
