It may not be known far and wide as the biggest promoter of netbooks, but Samsung does have a significant presence on that market, enough that it decided it was time for a particularly specialized entry-level PC.

Samsung has announced the NC110-Pororo, a low-end mobile personal computer that has a very specific segment of the consumer base in mind.

More precisely, it is aimed at children that want to spend some time playing puzzle or coloring games, as well as watching a certain series.

As some may or may not have guessed, the name of the NC110-Pororo comes from Pororo the Little Penguin, a series of animated videos.

There are a total of 114 episodes loaded on the laptop, along with“Pororo puzzle” games and “Pororo painted play“ (coloring).

Additionally, Pororo and the other characters are etched onto the display lid, so that the theme may be complete.

Obviously, it falls to parents to decide whether or not their children's lifestyle will benefit from adding this netbook to the mix.

At the very least, people might want to make sure the young ones don't end up spending too much time in front of the screen.

That said, the hardware components that Samsung used when putting the system together are not so different from those of other netbooks.

With a second-generation, dual-core Intel Atom chip at the center of everything (figuratively speaking at least), the computer boasts a 10.1-inch display, HDMI, Wi-Fi, a weight of 1.17 kilograms (2.57 pounds).

The storage capacity wasn't specifically mentioned, but it is probably of 250 GB, provided by an HDD, otherwise all those episodes wouldn't have enough room.

Shipments will start about five days from now, on February 6, 2012. Parents should be ready to fork up 509,000 won, which translates into $452 or 342 Euro.
