Samsung is launching the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagships around the world, but it will be making things a little bit sweeter for loyalists located in its homeland, South Korea.

Have you been a Samsung fan ever since the company launched the original Galaxy S handset? Well, if you’re still in possession of that particular model, you’ll be thrilled to find out that Samsung wants to reward your allegiance to the brand.

If you are wondering who would be still holding on to the original Galaxy S when there are so many better alternatives on the market, it turns out that quite a lot of people are still happy with how the phone is performing and they have continued to use it throughout the years.

Samsung shows appreciation for those who have stuck with the brand for years

According to a report coming out of Cho Sun, around 17,000 people registered under SK Telecom still use the Galaxy S1. We’re also told that about 15 million subscribers have purchased at least one Galaxy S series smartphone since the first model arrived on the market in 2010.

Around 1,600 customers bought each model launched in the Galaxy S series (13 different versions in total), while 2,400 acquired more than 10. A quick calculation reveals that these avid Samsung fans switched smartphones every six months.

To repay the loyalty of the customers who purchased every single Samsung Galaxy S phone model launched to date or who still own the original Galaxy S, the Korean tech giant is offering them a free Galaxy S6 phone and one year worth of free calls. That’s pretty exciting, isn't it?

Sadly, this promotion won’t be available for Samsung fans outside the South Korean borders, even if we’re pretty sure that there are some Sammy loyalists out there in the wide world too.

While the phone maker is busy launching its latest flagship all over the world, the company has also reportedly started the development of the upcoming Galaxy S7.

A recent report claims that the Korean tech giant ordered from Samsung Display 8 million flexible displays per month. So it appears its next flagship will be even more unique than the Galaxy S6 Edge.
