Today, leading handset vendor Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced the launch of the newly unveiled AMOLED Beam (SPH-W9600) mobile phone on the Korean market. According to the company, the new device, which is the successor of its Samsung Haptic Beam (SPH-W7900), lands on the market as the first full-touch beam projector phone.

The new mobile phone sports a 3.3-inch AMOLED touchscreen display that delivers a WVGA resolution, able to offer an enhanced viewing experience, and a 5.0-megapixel camera for high-quality image capture. Moreover, the handset enables users to easily project and share multi-media entertainment, games, video and pictures, the mobile phone maker notes.

“The AMOLED Beam provides an exciting mobile experience by projecting any content to a maximum screen size of 50 inches. The phone also boasts a display 1.5 times brighter than that of previous model, the Haptic Beam. Featuring a lightweight and compact design, the AMOLED Beam offers optimized features such as Microsoft Office and DivX codec support for convenient use, 3.3” WVGA display, 5 megapixel camera, and Terrestrial DMB,” Samsung states.

The new Samsung AMOLED Beam (SPH-W9600) can prove a great option for business users too, as they can deliver professional presentations with it whenever they need to via its rich image projection functionality. The handset includes a wide range of other features too, offering both personal use and social engagement to those who will opt for it. Unfortunately, no exact details on the pricing of the device were announced, nor on a possible launch in other markets around the world.

As Engadget notes, this device is not the Samsung Beam unveiled officially during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Also known as the Samsung i8520 'Halo', that handset runs under Google's Android 2.1 operating system, boasts a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and flash, among other features.
