Samsung is the world's greatest memory chipmaker, and one of the greatest manufacturers of processors in general. That means that its investment plans match its status in scope.

According to online reports, the corporation has gained the approval of the US Government, and Texas authorities in particular, for its Austin factory plans.

Samsung already has a manufacturing campus there, but it needs to renovate at least one facility, otherwise it won't be able to expand its capacity.

The investment will be massive, of $3.9 billion, or 2.94 billion Euro, give or take.

The plans were announced last week, but only now have they been approved by all relevant parties. 28nm processors will take up a great deal of the new factory's activities.
