Samsung has decided that the X360 notebook it has released just recently doesn't stand for all that the company is capable of, and especially not when it comes to competing with Apple's MacBook Air. This is precisely why the Korean company thought it would be a nice change if its customers had the option to choose from several X360-like notebooks. Perhaps this is how the X460 was born, a notebook that has been designed to deliver more features in roughly the same lightweight package as the X360.

The new arrival is, however, a bit heavier compared with the X360, which was the first to have been released. In addition, the X460 is built using a 14.1-inch display that provides the same 1280 by 800 resolution. The notebook weighs 4.1 pounds, while Samsung even managed to keep it quite slim, at a thickness of just 1.2-inches. Because of all of the above, the new system could easily be mistaken for the X360, with which it shares the same design, including the brushed aluminum finish.

Aside from all that, the X460 from Samsung has been equipped with an Intel Core 2 processor paired with 4GB of RAM to deliver a maximum performance level in a slim and lightweight package. In addition, the notebook will present users with a maximum of 320GB of storage space on a normal HDD, a Super Multi Drive DVD burner with LightScribe, and an NVIDIA GeForce Go 9200M GS chipset. There's also wireless 802.11a/b/g/n, Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR connectivity. Furthermore, Samsung also equipped its new lightweight champion with a 7-in-1 card reader, an HDMI output and a 6-cell battery that will keep the notebook running for approximately 5 hours. A 9-cell battery option will deliver 7.5 hours worth of battery life.

So, now we get to the point where you’re probably wondering what could possibly make the X460 even more attractive than it already is. Well, if the above-mentioned technical specs aren't enough for you, how about an MSRP of £999, including VAT, which means that, upon launch, the notebook will come cheaper at online resellers.
