In the world of Twitter and Facebook, blogs may seem somewhat outdated. But for businesses, large and small, there’s no better way to engage with customers in a relatively safe and controlled environment. And if you are running a company blog, most likely using WordPress, you’re certainly going to have a way for potential or existing customers to contact you.

If you also use Salesforce, you’ll be glad to hear that there is now a WordPress plugin, WordPress-to-lead for Salesforce CRM, which brings the two platforms together and makes it trivial to manage sale leads you may acquire through the blog.

The Salesforce CRM already integrates with popular platforms, like the aforementioned Facebook and Twitter, so adding this new tool was the next natural step. Basically, the plugin integrates with WordPress so that new contacts are automatically added to the Salesforce CRM.

Without the plugin, the contact data would have to be manually added, the info and emails copy/pasted into Salesforce. This works for a small number of people, but if you have a lot of visitors, which is probably what you want, it doesn’t cut it.

You can add a contact form to your blog, to the sidebar, for example, for maximum visibility. The form is fully customizable and the message and contact data get passed along automatically. You can then manage the lead along with the ones from various other sources in the Salesforce CRM.

WordPress-to-lead for Salesforce CRM can be installed just like any other WordPress plugin. One way is to upload the files manually to your WordPress plugins folder and then activate the plugin using the WordPress Dashboard. You can then link your Salesforce account and customize the contact form to your desire. You can also set up an automated email response to let the users know that their message was received.
