Brand new details about Saints Row 3: The Third have just appeared, including information about its array of weapons and features, as well as the fact that it won't have any type of multiplayer.

Saints Row 3: The Third was officially revealed last week by Volition, its developer, and THQ, its publisher.

The third chapter in the open-world action-adventure series has now been detailed by Game Informer magazine, who published a big cover story about the new game.

According to the article, the story will once again center around the Third Street Saints gang, with the player acting as leader and trying to fight off a legendary criminal fraternity called The Syndicate.

In order to do so, the main protagonist, which can be customized in almost every way or form, will have to use a wide array of upgradeable guns, from scoped assault rifles to three-barreled shotguns called Gravediggers.

Among the new weapons that will be included in Saints Row 3, we have an RC gun, which shoots bugs that allow you to control vehicles remotely and use them as guided missiles, but also the ability to call in an actual airstrike onto your targets.

Each weapon will have specific executions, allowing players to unleash all types of chaos.

The game will use a new type of leveling system, similar to the one in the older Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game, where experience points will decide your combat skills and even how fat or thin your character is.

You'll still be able to dress up the hero in any type of clothes you want, from construction worker to space suits or cheerleaders.

Cars and other such vehicles will also be customizable, with players enhancing both their looks and performance.

Missions in the game can be tackled in various ways, with an example being the assault on an enemy building, which you can either clear out by yourself or blow it up and lose experience or money.

Fans of the chaotic multiplayer mode from earlier games in the series will be sad to hear that the online component has been scrapped completely from the game, but you will be able to play cooperatively during the campaign mode.

Expect more details in the following months, and perhaps a bigger reveal at this summer's E3 conference.
