14 DAY TRIAL // Volition and THQ have confirmed that they’d release a special standalone expansion for Saints Row: The Third this fall, in the form of Enter The Dominatrix, which adds super powers to the already over the top world of the popular franchise.
Saints Row 3 impressed quite a lot of players last year when it came out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, managing to make up for a series of bad investments made by publisher THQ and keep the team at Volition in business.
Now, what started out as a small April Fools announcement has become a reality, as the two companies have confirmed Enter The Dominatrix, a standalone expansion for the game which would be out in fall.
While it still takes place in the city of Steelport and has the same basic mechanics, one major addition has been made, as players can now use an array of super powers.
“Faster than a speeding cyber jetbike, more powerful than a roided-out Luchadore, able to leap flying aircraft carriers in a single bound… That’s the power you’ll find inside the Dominatrix. Use it for good. Use it for evil. Use it for whatever you want. As always in Saints Row, it’s up to you,” said Danny Bilson, executive vice president, core game production, THQ. “With a franchise with more than 11 million units shipped globally, it’s incredibly gratifying to have the flexibility to give Saints Row fans the features they want most.”
In terms of story, Enter The Dominatrix takes place after the conclusion of the full game and sees an alien warlord called Zinyak invade Earth.
“Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix picks up immediately following the events of Saints Row: The Third. For centuries, alien warlord Zinyak has eyed Earth and its precious natural resources and females with a watchful eye. As he prepares an armada for invasion, he has only one worry: the Third Street Saints.”
“Now, in order to prepare his forces for domination, Zinyak captures the leader of the Saints and imprisons him in an elaborate virtual reality simulation. This simulation program looks and feels like Steelport, but it is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth. Here, you are a slave. Welcome… to the Dominatrix.”
Saints Row: Enter The Dominatrix is out for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this fall and will cost $29.99/€29.99.
Expect to hear more details about the standalone expansion this summer.
