Publisher Deep Silver and developer Keen Games have revealed a brand new cinematic trailer for the upcoming Sacred 3.

The video is a bit on the cartoony side, displaying some comical interaction between the upcoming game's characters, but ultimately not revealing much at all. Developer Keen Games did reveal that the game was going to lean toward a more laid back and comical overall atmosphere, and the trailer does a good job of reflecting the choice.

The role-playing game is said to support up to four players in cooperative action, so maybe it's meant to emphasize that you'll have some way to brag about your glorious adventures to your friends. Especially since you can have AI-controlled party members accompany you when no real players are present, which would mean that nobody will be there to witness your exploits.

As per the usual formula, players will band together as heroes in the fight against evil. The devs touted a high degree of customization when it comes to character classes and their abilities, and mentioned that a lot of classic role-playing game elements have been simplified or even removed completely in order to provide a more fluid multiplayer experience.

The game will introduce two new characters and will have a ton of new abilities that players will be able to employ in the heat of battle in order to defeat their enemies, but there will be a limit on how many different abilities you can equip at any given time.

There are also weapon and armor upgrades available, but the team's focus was on Combat Arts and on the way they completely alter the gameplay experience, with abilities being more customizable than ever before. The same skill will have the potential to be used for single target damage or as an area of effect ability with damage over time capacity, depending on how the player tailors it.

"It is an awesome world. And we think it deserves another title; one that shifts the gameplay but stays in the same storyline. The design has become a little bit more cartoonish, but as we continue to focus on the rich lore of Ancaria, we will also present comic style cutscenes at the introduction for each Main Quest," Deep Silver Creative Producer Sebastian Reichert says.

Sacred 3 is slated for an August 1 release in Europe, followed by a launch in North America on August 5, for the Xbox 360 computer entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 console from Sony, and the PC.
