Corsair gets ready to STRAFE its competition

Corsair Gaming, the PC gaming division of hardware manufacturer Corsair, has announced today its new mechanical keyboard built especially for hard-core gamers, the STRAFE.

Sporting a dark metallic color with intense red stripes and backlight, the STRAFE is meant to cater to MOBA and FPS players’ needs, having essential key caps textured and contoured to highlight their resistance to intense usage in these specific genres.

In addition to these basic effects, the backlight can be tuned and customized for every user configuration and personal preference. Also, STRAFE provides a more handy and approachable USB pass-through port for easy connections, 100% anti-ghosting technology with 104-key rollover and enhanced multimedia controls, fully programmable brilliant red LED backlighting for unrivaled personalization and last but not least, a German-made Cherry MX red switches with gold contacts for fast, precise key presses.

Standards kept high keeps competition at bay

While new and extremely customizable keyboards already on the market are such strong competition, the simplicity of its industrial design and strong build qualities might help Corsair push its new entry next to its highly regarded previous launch, the Corsair Vengeance K70 (Cherry MX Blue) priced at $129 and its top-of-the-line Corsair Vengeance K70 (Cherry MX Red) priced quite high at $298.

Eventually, Duckies, Roccats, Mad Catz, Steel Series and Razers will probably have to be defeated in order to bring a definitive leader of DIMMs in the top of the professional gaming keyboards business, but nevertheless Corsair's strong brand will probably push its PC gaming division visibility in the MLG universe even further.

In the end, it's all a matter of taste and build quality, and so far, flamboyant designs have rarely worked hand in hand with practical and flawless craftsmanship.

The new keyboard is expected to arrive at $109.99 in June with a limited 2-year warranty.
