Want to get a quick overview of Microsoft’s relational Cloud database service (RDBMS)? Well, Steve Yi, Director of Product Management for SQL Azure made available the SQL Azure at a Glance video which you will find embedded below. While the Redmond company is offering a variety of resources on its Cloud data platform, Yi promises that customers watching the video will be able to see the flexibility of SQL Azure services.

For those not familiar with SQL Azure, it is a database service hosted on Microsoft’s servers and built on SQL Server technologies.

“The power behind SQL Azure is how it can be used to create many new cloud-based applications, and also extend the reach of data with hybrid applications that connect both to the cloud and on premises databases,” Yi notes.

“In this video, I’ll explain SQL Azure architecture in more detail. I will also cover the business intelligence functionality of SQL Azure Reporting, as well as talk to SQL Azure’s data collaboration capabilities through Data Sync.”

It’s extremely easy for customers to try our SQL Azure before actually buying it from the Redmond company.

The software giant is offering the Windows Azure Platform Introductory Special, which includes a 1GB SQL Azure Web Edition database for first 3 months.

Customers are advised that although the Windows Azure Platform Introductory is free, it comes with certain usage limitations, and any excess usage will be billed at the normal rates for the Cloud platform.

Yi also notes that in the video “we’ll walk through several example SQL Azure usage scenarios, such as powering web experiences, extending on-premises applications and data to the cloud, and supporting departmental applications.

“It’s critical to understand just how available, scalable, and reliable your data now is on SQL Azure—and can be accessed from anywhere via the internet.”
