Major Russian carrier MTS has just announced an agreement with SPB Software to deliver its customers a dedicated mobile TV solution.

The new deal turns SPB Software into one of the leading providers of mobile TV solutions in Russia and strengthens its position in Eastern Europe.

Under agreement, SPB Software is to provide both feature-rich multi-platform mobile client and scalable server platform for MTS TV, the carrier's new mobile TV service.

SPB Software's mobile TV solution was chosen based on the successful trial, that has shown positive feedback from users.

The complete solution includes a SPB TV client customized for MTS brand, a powerful server system capable of delivering high-quality video stream from content owners, as well as full integration with MTS's infrastructure and billing platform.

Dubbed MTS TV, the new service features picture-in-picture mode, which allows users to scan through different television channels easier, full hardware support, integrated TV guide, as well as “transparent” on-screen controls.

According to SPB Software, the MTS TV application is available starting today for all major mobile platforms on the market, including Android, iPhone/iPad, Symbian, Windows Mobile, bada and BlackBerry.
