As Small to Medium-sized Businesses are not created equal, it was only to be expected that metrics would also indicate that the level of exposure would also be variable in correlation with different market segments. MX Logic Inc., a Denver based e-mail protection provider has released its statistics concerning a study it has performed on the customers it is serving. While delivering e-mails security solutions to a primary group of small to medium-sized businesses, MX Logic found that the smaller the company the more exposed it is to e-mail threats. In this context, MX Logic announced that the volume of spam messages that targeted enterprises with less than 1,000 in staff was no less than 14% larger than businesses employing over 2,500 persons.

"As the only email defense company focused exclusively on the needs of SMBs, MX Logic now analyzes spam traffic by company size. Its analysis for June found that companies with fewer than 1,000 employees received 68.2 percent spam volume, compared to 54.6 percent spam received by companies with 1,000 to 2,500 employees," stated MX Logic in a press release.

"Smaller businesses have greater vulnerabilities to threats, both email and Web based, because they invest fewer resources in IT security and have less focus on establishing companywide policies concerning employee email and Web use," explained Scott Chasin, chief technology officer, MX Logic.

MX Logic also found that out of all the e-mail traffic in June, a percentage of 74% was blocked by its protective filters after being identified as spam.
