The situation on various IT market segments has been looked at by various analysts, and it seems that Techaisle has now taken its turn at releasing its own findings, this time concerning the SMB market.

SMB is short for Small and Medium businesses, and Techaisle, being the global SMB IT market research and Industry Analyst organization that it is, obviously did a survey.

Apparently, emerging markets reported a very solid growth in terms of sales, while mature markets lagged behind by quite a bit.

For those that want numbers, the former reported a jump of 16.5%, while the latter only managed a combined 4.4%.

All in all, the percentage of SMBs that use at least one PC ended up at 59% , 37% of which was in Emerging Markets, a number set to reach 50% by 2014.

Desktops remain the primary choice for such installments, with shipments having reached 61.3 million, which is 51% of the world total.

Meanwhile, notebook sales were of 54.3 million, 45% of the total, while netbooks stood at 4.5 million.

Notebooks are said to be on track to overcome the share of desktops this year, and this is excluding tablets.

All in all, the year on year growth rate was of 10.4%. The shipments were of 120.1 million PCs, a number set to keep growing. Emerging Market countries should end up exceeding the 100 million unit mark by 2014.

“The bulk of growth rate came from Emerging Market countries which reported a 16.5% increase while Mature Markets, like Germany or the US, grew by a combined total of 4.4%,” said the press release.

“For the first time, Emerging Market SMB PC unit shipments exceeded that of Mature Markets. By 2014, it is forecast that SMB PC Shipments in Emerging Market countries will cross 100 Million Units.”
