SKY Electronics announced that it has integrated the AMD quad core Opteron processors into its line of products which are built around mainboards manufactured by TYAN. This announcement comes as a premiere, SKY Electronics being the first server manufacturer from the Middle East which announced support for AMD's new generation of central processing units in the same day that the CPU manufacturer officially launch its Opteron line globally.

The server manufacturer and system integrator, SKY Electronics is known for its close relation with the server mainboard producer TYAN, as the two companies promoted together their products at the GITEX Technology Week 2007 show, where AMD based servers and workstations were on display. ''GITEX is an important platform for us, as a leading systems integrator and distributor in this region, to showcase our range of products,'' explains Mr. Manoj Thacker, Managing Director at SKY Electronics.

According to the news site ameinfo, SKY's server solutions are already available for enterprises that need a high level of performance at an attractive cost level and the company's offerings are soon to be expanded with the inclusion of some workstations based on AMD's quad core processors too. Along side products based on the latest AMD processors, SKY Electronics continues to offer servers and workstations which are based on dual core AMD CPUs, as well as products based on processing units made by Intel.

The vast majority of the offerings from SKY Electronics when it comes to servers and workstations, is based on TYANmade motherboards that offer support for multi processor environments and are specially built for massive memory applications as they come with support for 16 DDR2 Regitered DIMMs. On the expansion side, the SKY servers offer support for PCI-Express, legacy PCI as well as Serial ATA ports for high speed data transferring rates, while maintaining two Parallel ATA ports for backward compatibility with older storage solutions.

SKY's managing director reiterated that the entire line of servers and workstations based on the AMD quad core Opteron processors is aimed at industries requiring a high level of performance, as ''these solutions boost the efficiency of the system, processor, power and virtualization. It automatically helps the IT Managers to manage in a single consistent environment. These solutions also bring efficiency with reliability and flexibility to scale further''.
