Automatic roaming in 90 countries around the world

SK Telecom announced the World Phone, Samsung SCH-V920, a phone designed for the frequent traveler, that makes automatic roaming possible in 90 countries around the world. The handset operates in several networks, including CDMA, GSM and JCDMA, used in Japan.

To assist travelers even more, the device includes an "Anycall Translator" function that allows translation of simple expressions into English, Japanese and Chinese. Available in four colors, "deep grey", "double red", "shiny silver" and "white", the SCH-V920 includes a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth connectivity. The phone has support for SK Telecom's Nate Drive service, which provides drivers with hands-free function and navigation information such as route guidance, traffic, emergency and location notification via GPS.

"Samsung's mobile phone with hi-tech functions and quality design will be a route through which people can communicate freely and conveniently anywhere in the world," stated Lee Ki-Tae, Samsung's Electronics Head of Information and Communications.

To promote the device, SK Telecom and Samsung will hold a "Two-Top Real World Phone Festival" from September 20 to October 31. Customers who purchase the World Phone during the period are eligible to win 10 airline tickets for a world tour, 20 trips to Tokyo and Yokohama, with a total of 100 prizes.

The phone will carry a price tag of KRW 500,000 (about $521).
