A SEGA executive has confirmed that the video game publisher is working on a Dreamcast Collection package that could be launched for the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft and possibly on the PlayStation 3 from Sony as soon as spring of 2011.

Alan Pritchard, who is the executive vice president at SEGA in charge of sales and marketing, has told Game Informer in a longer interview that, “The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system.”

He added, “We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it's an important part of our business. We've already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi.”

SEGA has already talked about putting out Dremacast based titles like Space Channel 5 Part 2 and Sega Bass Fishing, and gamers can already get their hands on Sonic Adventure.

The SEGA executive would not name the titles which could be included in the Dreamcast Collection and it's not clear whether it will include games that are already out on current generation consoles or will deliver all new titles from the golden age of the Dreamcast.

Initial rumors about the Dreamcast Collection appeared back in November, when retailer GameStop listed it for sales for a short period of time before pulling it from its store.

The launch date was then said to be February 15, 2011, but it's not clear whether SEGA is actively working to make that deadline or has another launch window in mind.

Nostalgia has become pretty pick among gamers as the customer base has begun growing older and fondly remembering the titles that occupied the gaming time of their youth.
