The handset works on HSPDA with backup connectivity on CDMA2000 1x EV-DO.

If you are the type of person that never knows what decision to make when having to choose between a phone with HSPDA and one with EV-DO, you will feel a lot better when reading what I have to say in this article. Samsung has launched, at this year's KES conference, their new SCH-W210 DMB mobile handset that not only offers its users access to mobile TV technology through its DMB capability, but it is also capable of working on two different types of networks at the same.

Well, not quite simultaneously, because it actually uses the HSPDA when you decide to make video calls and keeps the UMTS 2000 1x EV-DO as a last resort when you get outside of the coverage area, so you will be able to experience mobile interconnectivity at high speeds everywhere you'll go. The idea of keeping the UMTS as a fall-back solution seems a little strange the first time you hear it, but when thinking of it as the mind in the dark, the picture gets a whole new perspective.

The SCH-W210 also features a 2.12 inch QVGA TFT-LCD, a 2 megapixel digital camera, a VGA camera for video calls, a music player with VOD, MOD and MP3 support, TV-OUT, a microSD external memory expansion card slot, all of these being controlled with the help of a very nice looking black GUI.

There is a very small probability to get our hands on this little beauty if living outside South Korea, so just dream about it and hope that one day, Samsung will decide to release it on the rest of the mobile market (that will surely happen if the mobile carriers will hurry up on bringing DMB services so we can also enjoy all the goodies that the Koreans take for granted).
