Slowly but very surely, Matthew McConaughey is becoming the absolute favorite to win Best Actor at the upcoming Oscars 2014, which will take place on March 2. Over the weekend, he added another notch on his belt by winning a SAG award.

Above is his acceptance speech.

Matthew, who was once considered nothing more than a pretty face that did well at the box office in rom-coms, impressed critics and fans with his heartbreaking, raw performance in “Dallas Buyers Club,” in which he plays a man who has just been diagnosed with AIDS, condemned to death by the national health service that would not provide him with the right treatment.

The other nominees for Best Actor at the SAGs included Chiwetel Ejiofor for “12 Years a Slave,” Bruce Dern for “Nebraska,” Tom Hanks for “Captain Phillips,” and Forest Whitaker for “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”

Matthew was the only one to go home with a statuette, but he made sure he paid his respects to all the other nominees, and not just in his category. He also spoke fondly of getting the chance to do “Dallas Buyers Club” and his love of acting, which he described as a wild “bull ride.”
