Fashion gurus still maintain that one of the golden rules that shouldn’t be broken on the red carpet is to wear red, because the two similar colors will make the wearer “fade” into the background. Clearly, that wasn’t the case with Mila Kunis last night.

At last night’s SAG Awards 2011, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the actress wore a stunning Alexander McQueen creation that has earned her the much-coveted title of best dressed.

With soft curls and her trademark smoky eye makeup, Kunis was genuinely a sight for sore eyes, coming across as the most stylish and gracious of the night.

This could have had something to do with the dress, since she admitted on the red carpet that it was, by far, the most comfortable designer gown she’d ever wore in her life / career.

The strapless chiffon dress was by the late “enfant terrible” Alexander McQueen from the Resort 2011 collection. As expected from a McQueen creation, it was all about loose fabric and plenty of patterns.

Mila accessorized it with over $300,000 worth of Cartier jewelry and a white little clutch.

The actress was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her role in “Black Swan,” but she lost out to Melissa Leo for her role in “The Fighter.”

Though her role in “Black Swan” earned her excellent reviews and she seems to be a media darling, this awards season, Mila was pushed aside, some celebrity bloggers believe.

She doesn’t get due recognition for her work or her innate fashion sense, and it’s quite a shame, they’re saying on dedicated forums.

If Mila too is thinking the same, she’s definitely not letting it show: in fact, she’s repeatedly said she’s ecstatic for the success her co-star Natalie Portman has been having since awards season began.

At the SAG Awards 2011, Portman won for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, thus confirming (if further confirmation was needed) that she was the strongest contender in the category for the Oscar.
