From Daem Interactive

Daem Interactive, a Spain-based company, comes with an innovative technology set to revolutionize 2d code reading: Skuair by Daem Interactive is a client-server solution that combines the best characteristics of 2d barcodes and image recognition technologies.

Skuair is fast and easy to use and it's compatible with any handset that has a built-in photo camera. The application enables users to take snapshots of any product, logo or advert, in order to receive relevant information about it on their phones. This way, an instant interactivity is created between the user and product makers. The system could be used to buy tickets to a show, take part in promotions, download content, access consumer reviews and so on.

After a user made a photo with what interests him, he sends the image to an e-mail address or a short-code, directly from the phone. Daem Interactive's image recognition technology then identifies the image and sends back detailed information about the product / logo / advert. The recognition system allows the launch of visual search campaigns on various locations and supports, including graphical media (i.e. newspapers or magazines), urban furniture (street displays, billboards, posters and panels) and product packaging labels.

Daem Interactive presents its technology as being "very robust" and supporting many image resolutions, capture lighting conditions, distances and angles, bringing benefits for everyone: advertisers, mobile carriers and mobile users.

Skuair works with any Symbian S60 3rd Edition phone and those who want to sign up for its beta version can access the Skuair website at this address.

A similar technology with the one from Daem Interactive is also developed by Nokia. Called "Point and Find", Nokia's technology allows mobile users to take a picture of any product they want to buy, quickly search info about it via the phone's browser, search for the best price, order it on-line and then wait home for its delivery. But this, unlike Sukair, is just a concept for the moment.
