We have known since Gamescom last year that the developers at GSC Game World are working on a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. video game, but until know fans of the universe have not received any clear information on the mix between adventure and exploration.

Now the developers have put up a pretty big Questions & Answers session on Facebook and it seems that the new game will change the formula of the experience quite a bit.

The story in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be completely new, with just a few of the characters seen in the first three titles making a comeback, and the entire game engine has been rebuilt from the ground up to make the post explosion Chernobyl area better looking than ever.

New mutants will be introduced to the game and apart from the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 the development studio will deliver a lot of secret labs and underground areas to explore.

There will also be a focus on the PC version, which will look better than the versions seen on the Xbox 360 or on the PlayStation 3, and will offer more gameplay options.

The gameplay is being refocused on the survival aspects of the first games of the series and the developers at GSC Game World are being adamant that even if they are creating a multiplatform title they will not be making it any easier just to make sure that it is attractive to the console audience.

DirectX 11 will be used to deliver better lightning effects and more complex particle movement and the entire look of the Zone is now more interesting and more mysterious.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 does not have a launch date at the moment, but it has been confirmed that the game will be launched on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC.
