Ryse: Son of Rome is scheduled to launch on October 10, according to the action-adventure title's listing on Valve's digital distribution platform Steam.

The game was initially part of the Xbox One's launch lineup in November last year, and developer Crytek was praised for the fantastic visuals in the game and the fantastic job it did, having one of the first games on the home console looking so good and still managing to be playable.

Ryse: Son of Rome tells the story of a young Roman soldier on a quest for revenge against the men who killed his family. His journey takes him to the heart of the ancient Roman Empire, where players will experience visceral action scenes with brutal melee combat and a story about brutality and heroism.

The developer is now looking to launch the game for PC, with a ton of tweaks that will deliver even more impressive visuals. PC gamers can look forward to seeing some neat graphical improvements over the Xbox One edition, including 4K resolution support.

"We've given our team the opportunity to show what CryEngine can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers," Crytek stated at the PC edition's announcement.

"Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future. Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible," the developer said.

In addition to revealing the release date, the Steam listing also outs the game's system requirements, which surprisingly aren't all that high.

The minimum processor needed to play the game is an Intel Dual-Core 2.8 GHz or an AMD Dual-Core 3.2 GHz or better, with a DirectX 11 compatible graphics card with at least 1 GB of video RAM, and 4 GB of RAM.

However, in order to properly enjoy the game and all the power of the CryEngine engine, the developer recommends to use an Intel Quad-Core or AMD Octa-Core processor, on a system with 8 GB of RAM and a graphics card with 4 GB of video memory.

The game will also require 26 GB of available hard disk space, and it will come with all the DLC and bonus material released for the Xbox One version, including Arena maps, character skins and Survival Mode.

Crytek is self-publishing the digital edition of Ryse: Son of Rome, and Deep Silver is taking care of the retail edition.
