Last month, former Olympian and reality star Bruce Jenner ended speculation about his gender and came out as trans-woman in an ABC 2-hour interview with Diane Sawyer. At about the same time, E! confirmed that a docuseries with Bruce was in the works, with an air date set for July 2015.

However, E! had bigger plans with Bruce, since this is an opportunity that doesn’t come too often. In addition to the docuseries, the network will also be airing a 2-part special, which will be attached to the family’s reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce. This one airs this month.

Ryan Seacrest says it’s a must-see.

Seacrest promises an “emotional,” “raw” special

This summer’s docuseries will focus on Bruce’s transition from male to female, showing him adjusting to his new life after he’s come out to the family and the world.

There will be sad moments but also fun ones, like a scene in which Bruce is having trouble golfing with his new breasts, after he’s gotten implants, reports online claim.

In the Kardashian special, fans will get to see him breaking the news to his family members, including daughters Kylie and Kendall, step-daughters Khloe and Kourtney (Kim already knew), and ex-wife of 23 years Kris.

You can see a video from the special, just to get an idea of what you should expect from it, embedded below.

“I watched it back, and I thought it was very emotional and very compelling,” Ryan Seacrest tells US Weekly of the Diane Sawyer interview. As fans of the Kardashians must know already, Seacrest is the executive producer of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, i.e. the man who turned them into the most successful family in reality television, into the Kardashian brand.

“We've got a two-part special where Bruce talks to his family about everything, which is extremely emotional and very, very raw,” he continues. “I do know they have a very powerful couple hours of TV coming up.”

Bruce Jenner, the modern hero

Since Bruce came out, he’s been getting a lot of support in the media, from fellow celebrities and from the LGBT community. Because he’s the first high-profile public figure to come out like this and to agree to document his transition on camera, thus bringing more awareness to the journey of a trans-person, he is being hailed a modern hero.

At the same time, there is also the underlining fear that this much exposure in reality television will cheapen Bruce’s courageous act of coming out, because, as we all know, not much is real about reality television these days.

The fact that there is also a Bruce special part of the KUWTK in addition to the docuseries seems to confirm that, but we’ll know for certain once they air.
