“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was initially supposed to be a stand-alone spinoff, with just one main character around whom the entire center would unfold. In time, Fox decided that the movie could become more than just a spinoff and have its own cast, much in the manner of the original “X Men” movies, and thus Ryan Reynolds and others also got to be included in the cast.

Speaking with Collider, Reynolds reveals that his part, that of Wade Wilson / Deadpool, will actually get plenty of screen in time. In fact, he will get so much time in front of the camera that Reynolds has already received offers to do his own spinoff, which he has bluntly refused so far. Either way, the actor is not ruling out the idea of doing something like this in the future – just not now.

“These things work pretty slowly. I’ve had a couple of people approach me about meetings for a ‘Deadpool’ movie but I think it’s absurd to think that way until this movie comes out. And I don’t even look at it like I play Deadpool in this movie. I really think I more or less play Wade Wilson, and I’m playing the creature that will eventually become Deadpool but in this movie it’s his newly formed version… so to speak.” Reynolds explains for Collider.

Moreover, Reynolds points out, even if his part was not initially thought to get so much attention – as neither did the others – it seems that things eventually worked out just fine for everybody. “Initially, it started out as a cameo and they added a little bit more. For the most part it’s definitely Hugh’s movie but it also has an ensemble feel. There are a lot of guys in it. There are a lot of characters.” the actor says, while also spilling the beans on something that will certainly please fans: there are more mutants in “Wolverine” than Fox initially let out.

All in all, “Wolverine” promises to be precisely what fans wanted from it: plenty of action, plenty of mutants and plenty of fighting. “I have a sword sequence in the movie that is no less than a minute long in the film, but that takes months and months to prepare for. […] We had action sequences that took weeks. We had one fight sequence that took weeks to shoot.” Reynolds also shares about the kind of dedication and preparation that went into filming the fight scenes.
