Fox film drops in February 2016, shooting begins in spring

After months of intense speculation and years of waiting for some news (any kind of news!) on the “Deadpool” spinoff, Fox is finally moving towards making it, ahead of a February 2016 release. Ryan Reynolds, who played the character first in 2009, is back on board.

Word of his involvement in the project has been making the rounds since July 2014, when a video of movie test footage leaked online. It was entirely CGI but it featured Ryan’s voice, which confirmed older rumors that, at one point, if only for the shortest of times, he was involved in the project.

Judging by the photo he posted on Twitter, he’s back on. Some hours ago, Reynolds tweeted a photo of Deadpool’s face made up of bullet cartridges, made by Mike Oncley, with the caption “It’s chimichanga time,” which is a reference to Deadpool’s favorite food.

Clearly, if he weren’t involved in the film, he wouldn’t be teasing the fans this way, because he’d know that such a photo can cause hysteria online. So either he’s deliberately setting up fans or he’s just confirmed he’s doing the movie.

“Deadpool” has been confirmed by Fox for months: it is slated for a February 12, 2016 release, and will be directed by Tim Miller. Shooting is scheduled to start this spring, leaving plenty of time for post-production work.

The only thing fans still didn’t know for a fact until now was whether Reynold was returning or not. It turns out he is.
