14 DAY TRIAL // They’ve been going strong since 2006 and have survived the kind of media scrutiny that other couples could have faced only with much difficulty, especially since their relationship started with a divorce. Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish have decided to split, with reps for the both of them confirming the news to People magazine.
It’s not certain what prompted the separation, but Abbie has already moved out of the house she shared with Ryan, with paparazzi being on the scene shooting her every move. Reps for the two of them are issuing contradictory confirmations, with Cornish’s saying it was she who ended the relationship, while one for Phillippe insists it was the actor who demanded the separation.
“It’s over between actress Abbie Cornish and boyfriend Ryan Phillippe, her spokesperson confirms to People exclusively. ‘Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home,’ the rep tells People. On Sunday, the actress was spotted removing her belongings from the house she shared with Phillippe while he visited a friend with children Ava and Deacon,” People magazine writes.
Oddly enough, while he would not offer more details about what prompted the breakup, a rep for Phillippe insists he was the one who decided it was about time they went their separate ways. “Ryan ended the relationship and asked her to move out of his house,” his spokesperson says for the same publication. When asked about what reason Ryan had to make this decision, the rep only said “No comment.”
Still, as People also notes, it could very well be that things had not been ok with the two stars for quite some time before they decided to break up. Speculation of Phillippe cheating on Abbie first began to make the rounds a few months ago, when he was allegedly spotted hitting the party circuit and enjoying himself in the company of many lady friends, none of which was Abbie.
