Ryan Gosling has long made the transition from heartthrob to respectable, serious, solid actor. The time has come for him to add another accomplishment on his belt, that of director.

He will be making his directorial debut in a fantasy noir film called “How to Catch a Monster,” which will star Christina Hendricks as lead, Slash Film reports.

Fans remember that Christina first worked with Ryan on the critically acclaimed “Drive,” in which she had a minor supporting role.

“Written and directed by Ryan Gosling, How to Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale,” a brief press statement notes.

“Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive,” adds the same.

Now, as noted above, Gosling enjoys a reputation of a very talented, professional actor. Whether this will also apply to his writing and directorial skills remains to be seen but, yes, our money’s on “yes.”
