Ryan Gosling’s heartthrob status is such a big deal that even changing his hair color gets his name trending on social media. This is exactly what happened some hours ago, after he was spotted on the set of his new movie, rocking curls and a much darker shade for his hair than his natural one.

Indeed, Ryan Gosling has gone over to the dark side - not for cookies, but for cold hard cash and his career. The change was necessary for the role he’s playing, E! News points out. You can find a photo of his new look in the tweet below.

Ryan Gosling pops up in New Orleans, fangirls die at the sight of his brunette curls

A short while ago, Ryan was in London promoting his directorial debut, “Lost River,” which opened at the Cannes Film Festival last year but had some issues securing distribution both domestically and internationally.

As was to be expected, Ryan was mobbed by his legions of female admirers and he made more than a few swoon from those keeping up with his appearances online. At the time, he looked his usual self, with some facial hair and the dirty blonde hair his momma gave him.

Not anymore: paparazzi caught sight of the actor on the set of “The Big Short,” and he was rocking the dark curls of real-life bank trader Greg Lippmann, whom he plays in the film.

“The Big Short” is based on the novel “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine” by Michael Lewis, which “examines the housing and credit bubble burst that precipitated a global financial crisis seven years ago,” E! says.

It also stars Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Steve Carrell, but they were not seen on set with Ryan (and his newly dyed brunette curls).

Speaking of the new dye-job, it’s the talk of the entire Internet right now, with many female fans vouching that Gosling looks as yummy as he did before, if not actually more so.

If you’re unfamiliar with the “Hey Girl” Ryan Gosling phenomenon, we should note that he’s considered one of the most handsome, nice and overall swoon-worthy male celebrities of the moment.

Ryan will be back in theaters soon

If you wish to support Gosling’s work and plan on seeing “Lost River,” against critics’ recommendation, you should know that he doesn’t appear in it. His girlfriend Eva Mendes does, though.

However, Ryan has his plate full, and fans will get the chance to watch him on the big screen very soon: he has “Weightless” opening this year, and then “The Nice Guys” coming out next year. “Weightless” is his first movie since “Only God Forgives” in 2013, which was also received with mixed-to-negative reviews.

“The Big Short” doesn’t have a release date just yet, but these two movies should provide plenty of eye candy for the fans, because Ryan will do TV and magazine appearances to promote them.
