The Voice is proving to be a very strong competitor in the ratings for The X Factor in the UK. The other night’s show explains how this came to be, with Ruth Brown bringing tears to the eyes of the judges and audience members alike.

She may have been last to perform but she definitely made sure she was the talk of the town.

Ruth performed “Get Here (If You Can)” by Oleta Adams and got a standing ovation, with the judges barely able to say what they thought of the performance because of the emotion and commotion.

“I've heard a lot of singers in my life and this girl comes from somewhere else. She's wonderful,” Tom Jones, Ruth’s coach, said.

“I watched you with so much admiration and pride. Your voice is natural. It doesn't feel like you are singing anyone else's song,” Jessie J added, while Danny compared her to the likes of Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and Mariah Carey.

Above is her performance. Check it out to see for yourself what the fuss is all about.
