14 DAY TRIAL // On Friday, Russian authorities finally made a public statement regarding the arrest and prosecution of Paunch, the developer of the notorious BlackHole exploit kit. They haven’t provided too many details, but they have revealed that 12 other suspects have been arrested.
They also claim the cybercriminals caused losses totaling 70 million Russian Rubles (2.1 million USD / 1.5 million EUR).
Russian IT security firm Group-IB, which assisted authorities in their investigation, provides some additional information regarding Paunch, including a couple of pictures of the cybercriminal mastermind. Apparently, he is 27 years old and resides in the city of Togliatti.
One of the pictures shows the man in front of his Porsche Cayenne, while the second one appears to be taken after his arrest.
Hopefully, Russian authorities will provide additional details on the case against Paunch.
