14 DAY TRIAL // Katie Price (once known as Jordan) has been alerted of a plot to have her kidnapped by Russian gangsters, in which the first attempt would presumably take place as she was in Marbella promoting her latest line, KP Equestrian. Given the star’s high profile and the many millions she has amassed throughout her career with her many endeavors, she is a very easy target, which is why she has come to the attention of the Russian mafia, the Daily Star writes.
Unnamed sources close to Price reveal for the British tabloid that the star has already learned of the plot to have her kidnapped and then held for ransom, and is upping security around her for the tour as we speak. She is terrified at the idea, of course, but she’s not yet ready to call off the promo tour just because of a scare and especially not when she’s so confident in the security guys she has around her. For extra caution, she’s also asking current boyfriend, cagefighter Alex Reid, on the tour with her.
“The kidnap threat is a real worry and Kate feels much safer when Alex is around. He is a muscular man and a trained fighter who can watch her back at all times. Kate’s a tough woman but this is bound to really frighten her and convince her to take her boyfriend along for support. She will definitely feel much better having him on hand to double up as a bodyguard and scare off the mobsters.” the Daily Star writes, citing the tipster.
The Russian mobsters planned to hit once Price reached Marbella, having studied many paparazzi photos of her both on business trips and on vacation, and noting that security around her was not really that tight and she could be vulnerable, the insider says. Of course, now that the media is running the story, it is believed that the Russians’ plan is, for the time being, foiled. Still, the spy explains, if Price starts feeling that the heat is too much, she will back out of the promo tour – until then, she plans to brave this one out.
“These gangs are ruthless and will stop at nothing to earn a few bob. Kate has a lot of money and taking someone so high-profile would also boost their bragging rights, so she can’t take any chances. Kate would not make any trip unless she and the people around her felt 100% sure of her security.” the same unnamed source concludes by saying.
