Runes of Magic is a WoW-like MMORPG with one huge advantage over the giant: it is completely free to play! However, visual aspects and freeness ratings are not the only important things when it comes to computer and video games - the gameplay matters quite a lot too and that's what Frogster, the developer of the game, is planning to make sure it's perfect, by starting a first beta stage right after the German Games Convention.

The Runes of Magic closed beta servers will be opened on the 28th of August, which means that lucky registrants will be able to explore the worlds of Taborea sooner than everybody else. However, if you did not manage to win the beta lottery, you still have a chance to see what this promising title is about if you keep your eyes open for the Games Convention, since that's the place where Frogster plans to show off the first region of the MMO's virtual world.

Also, the luckiest of you will get the chance to try the game and even win some goodies. There will be sixteen gaming terminals equipped with high end PCs, TFT displays and peripherals of Frogster's partners at booth A10 in hall 5. One fortunate player can win a branded gaming computer in Runes of Magic design from Ultraforce, a 22'' monitor from Iiyama, headsets from Speed-Link and many more hardware pieces and fan articles. This makes Runes of Magic quite enjoyable already!

In the game, players have access to the dual class system which allows them to freely combine their main and secondary classes in order to freely build a character the way they want (of course, this sounds great in theory, but we know that "freely" has a lot of limitations, usually). In addition, players have access to a dynamic item and rune system, as well as three gathering and eight crafting professions. The game's dangerous dungeons filled with monsters, quick raids and the extensive PvP system promise to constantly challenge PC heroes.
