Gamers can choose to side with Loki or with Thor and bring about the end of the world

The team at Paradox Development Studio is delivering yet another diary for the upcoming Runemaster, which continues to offer players a look at the world of the game by introducing them to the Svartalfheim realm, which will serve as one of the locations to be explored and fought in.

The official forum post states, “Svartalfheim is named for the Darkelfs that inhabit the world; it translates to ‘the home of the Dark elf’. Dwarfs and Darkelfs grudgingly share this world but the races are not fond of each other and wars are common between them.”

The Dwarfs are pretty close to other fantasy depictions of them, known for their skills when it comes to metalwork, crafting items that they can then trade in order to secure food, but also for their abilities in working with wood and leather.

The race creates homes in solid rock, and most of the activities that they undertake are pretty dangerous, which probably tends to lead to their limited life spans, even if they have the potential to live for many years if they avoid perils.

Darkelfs will be an interesting choice

The Darkelfs are decadent and devious, focused on plotting and scheming rather than on straight up confrontations with their enemies.

They also tend to have a very limited connection to the Gods of the Runemaster universe and they employ slaves in order to perform menial tasks and to fight their wars.

Paradox Development Studio states, “Svartalfheim was the last world to be created, and it was mostly made of the leftovers from the creation of the rest of the worlds. The parts of Ymir that Odin and his brothers hadn’t used were placed underneath Yggdrasil, to serve as nourishment for it.”

Basically, the entire realm is made up of intestines, flesh and organs which over time became minerals, gems and ores.

Svartalfheim is dark and dangerous, and this means that powerful creatures exist there and even time flows differently, with the two races developing internal sense in order to keep tracks of the days that are passing.

Runemaster is a role-playing game which also includes tactical battles, set to be launched on the PC before the end of this year.

Gamers will be able to choose from a variety of races and classes and can then pledge their allegiance to either Thor or Loki in order to fight enemies and create alliances that can bring about or avoid the Ragnarok event.
