Kerry De’ath, of Southend, Essex, ran out on three fiancés before finally tying the knot to her best friend and maid of honor.

When she met her first almost-groom, Craig Smith, she thought he was the one. The couple dated for 11 years, lived together and even had two children. After giving birth to Ellie and George, now 10 and 4 years old, Kerry and cable installer Craig decided to make it official.

They made all the necessary arrangements to marry at the Cypress Gardens theme park in Florida, USA. Before they could get on the plane, though, Kerry changed her mind and called off the wedding. They had spent eleven years saving up for the perfect nuptial ceremony, the Daily Mail reports.

She met 29-year-old Dave Futter soon after moving out. It was disappointing when the shop assistant from Essex asked her to marry him, two and half years later, and she realized he wasn't “the one” either, and broke up with him.

Musician Nick Farmer seemed like the keeper, out of the tree, that is. Nick and Kerry moved in right away. It was no surprise when, two years later, he popped the question.

Kerry agreed to marry him and set up to register in Hornchurch, Essex. They sent out 100 invitations and it seemed like nothing could go wrong this time.

As it happens, something did. Six weeks before the ceremony, 33-year-old Sarah Woodford, who had known the soon-to-be bride for two years and was also her bridesmaid, confessed her feelings for her were deeper that attachment or friendship.

Kerry realized she felt the same way, and went on to cancel yet another wedding.

“When I was making arrangements to marry Nick, Sarah sat me down on her bed and said ‘I love you’. I couldn’t believe it. Then she said ‘don’t marry him’ […] I had no idea how she felt. But as she said the words I started it started to feel right. I’d spent all that time worrying about marrying a man – when it was a woman I was looking for,” she admitted.

In the end, she did get married at the Langtons House registry office, only it was to her best friend.

“I know it sounds like something out of a film, but you can’t help who you fall in love with,” she says.
