The game Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic is deeply revered by its fans. It was the first RPG (Role Playing Game) which took place in the Star Wars universe and it captured people's hearts and admiration. It won many prizes and titles being dubbed one of the most influential games based on the Star Wars franchise. The second title, Star Wars: KOTOR II The Sith Lords, explored for the first time the Sith part of this intriguing story line. Although most people already anticipated a Star Wars based MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game), the company responsible for the first title, BioWare, said that there was no such title under development in their studio. So, complete “No Comment” from their side, but recently, John Riccitiello, the boss of Electronic Arts, the publisher of this future game, said that the game currently in BioWare's hands is actually an online Star Wars title.

He was pretty excited about it also, saying that this is one of the most anticipated titles by the whole gaming industry. And he is right, the sheer number of fans who would buy anything branded with the Star Wars logo is huge. If you take a look at the excellent sales of the newest release in the franchise, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, you know that this title will sell extremely well.

It definitely looks like, in the next weeks, the official announcement of this title will be made by BioWare and LucasArts. The news came from a British newspaper, of all sources, which reported the rumor and the fact that it would send a reporter to San Francisco to get more details on the upcoming game.

As I said, it won't be much of a surprise; it seemed the logical move for the Star Wars line up. We already had RPGs, it was inevitable that a MMO would appear, be it from BioWare or from another studio close to LucasArts. Considering the good job it did with the first title, it's safe to say that the gaming experience will be very good. But before we jump to any conclusion, let's just wait to hear it from the studio.
