The PSP Mini program has just debuted on the PlayStation Portable Go and there are already rumors saying that the titles offered through it might also be available on the PlayStation 3 home gaming console for all those who are interested in bite-sized portions of gaming designed with a more casual audience in mind.

Multiple sources from inside the Sony hierarchy have apparently confirmed the move and they are stating that the Japanese console manufacturer and videogame publisher is getting ready to officially announce the strategy at some point later in December, along with a demonstration of how the technology will work.

Gaming website Joystiq is saying that the move has been planned for some time and that it will allow for a bigger gaming library on the PS3, while also offering more exposure for the titles that might otherwise be overlooked by gamers who are not interested in the PlayStation Portable Go.

Developers will apparently need to upgrade the graphics elements of their games in order to make them look good on big screen television sets. The sources inside Sony are not revealing which titles from the PSP Mini catalog will be brought over to the PlayStation 3.

The company has announced that the official position is not to comment on rumors. It has also said that it plans to put out 50 PSP Mini titles in 2009 and a whole lot more in 2010.

The PlayStation Portable Go, which does not have a UMD drive and offers a better screen and an irremovable battery, was launched by Sony in October and has failed to attract the same amount of gamers interested in the Nintendo DSi or in the newer XL version. The PSP Mini games were initially advertised as an alternative to the gaming apps available for the iPhone from Apple.
