The developers at Spark Unlimited have refused to deny that they are working with publisher Capcom on a new Resident Evil video game, telling fans that they are unable to comment on information that has not been made public by another source.

The rumors were launched when Spark announced that it was beginning pre-production on a new game described as a “breakout game based on an established console franchise”.

A job announcement linked to it talks about the horror genre and about a third person perspective, which a lot of gamers saw as a clear description of the Resident Evil series.

Spark also revealed that they are working with the Unreal Engine from Epic Games on the new game and talked about how their new project will extend the boundaries of the genre and the franchise.

The link to Resident Evil was reinforced by the fact that Spark has hired a designer who has worked at Capcom for 11 years, offering input on Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition.

The developers at Spark have engaged with fans online via Twitter and has launched such suggestive messages as “”Disclaimer: We're prohibited from talking about what we are working on or for whom. We can only discuss previously disclosed information” and “As a follow-up to the just posted disclaimer: I can neither confirm nor deny what we are working on or whom we are working with.”

Spark has worked on such video games as Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, which arrived in 2008, and Legendary, both of which failed to make a huge impression in critical or sales terms.

At the moment Spark is also working on a mix between a third person shooter and an adventure game for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC, which some have suggested is Star Wars: Battlefront 3.

Capcom is preparing to launch Resident Evil Operation Racoon City in the coming weeks.
