Reportedly, Apple is getting ready to bring to shelves a new batch of Mac Pro machines, which should land sometime in late summer, just in time for the “back to school” period. At the same time, rumor has it that the company would release an iMac refresh, though it seems that these devices would arrive a little later to the market. The news emerges soon after info on a 11.6-inch MacBook Air set to arrive in 2010 made it into the wild.

Although hard at work with the wide range of issues it has with the iPhone 4 at the moment, Apple is said to have time to think at some of its other products as well, and a Mac Pro refresh seems to be just the thing.

According to a recent post on Hard Mac, which cites trusted sources, this refresh would land before the summer is over, and should make it to “back to school” promotions expected to kick off at that time. An iMac refresh should arrive soon after, the news site notes. Actually, that won't happen that soon, but the new flavor should become available within a few weeks and a month following Mac Pro's arrival.

When it comes to the novelties that one would be able to spot in the new machines, rumor has it that USB 3.0 ports would be there, which makes sense, since the technology has been around for quite some time now. Moreover, it seems that we should expect for FireWire 1600 or FireWire 3200 to be included in the desktop computers too.

On the downside, no Blu-ray capabilities would be included into the mix, it seems, as Apple reportedly dislikes the technology. No LightPeak would be there either, though the Cupertino-based company might consider the introduction of such a solution at a later time. Another interesting piece of info the rumor brought to light would be the fact that a hexacore Core i7 Mac Pro refresh would also arrive along with the USB 3.0/FireWire machines, at least this is what slashgear notes in a recent article.
