These past few days, the blogosphere has been inundated with rumors that Jennifer Aniston and Robert Pattinson would soon start working together as lovers in a remake of the classic “The Graduate.”

As moviegoers must know, the original 1967 film, also referred to as the “original cougar story,” starring Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman as the leads, sees the two playing unlikely lovers.

She is much older than he is and, to cap it all off, she’s also the mother of the girl he’d really like to go out with. Reports said Aniston would take over the seductress role, while Pattinson would be “the graduate.”

Reports also claimed that the British heartthrob had made up his mind about doing the remake shortly after he was done with “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” which is now shooting on location.

Sadly for Robert’s fans hoping to see him in such a part, the remake is not happening – at least, not with these two actors, E! Online reports in its So True, So False? column.

“No such project exists,” a rep for Aniston explains for the e-zine. “Another complete fabrication,” the spokesperson adds.

This is actually quite sad, E! goes on to write because, even if the original story has definitely lost a lot of its shock factor, it would have still been good to see two such beautiful people together on the big screen.

“We are so bummed. We actually think Jennifer and R.Pattz would be totally hot onscreen together!” E! notes.

“But nowadays a fortysomething bombshell like Jen could totally date a twentysomething dude like Rob, so the remake probably wouldn’t have that big of a shock factor with these two. It’s a fun idea though, no? And Graduate 2.0 is bound to happen,” the same media outlet goes on to say.

Until “The Graduate 2” happens, with or without Aniston and Pattinson, he’s hard at work on “Breaking Dawn,” the upcoming installment in the insanely successful “The Twilight Saga.”

Over the weekend, director Bill Condon tweeted the first official picture from the film: Bella’s hand clutching feathers after the night she and Edward made love.
