Rugged, ultra-portable and very versatile tablet PCs are becoming more and more popular across a variety of market segments, and for this reason, the people over at Mobile Demand have decided to add yet another such product to their lineup, namely the xTablet C1200 Convertible Tablet PC. Before moving to the xTablet C1200's very impressive spec sheet, we'll have to say a few words about its impressive level of environment resilience, namely the fact that the device meets MIL-STD 810G requirements and is tested to survive drops from a 4’ height, while also featuring a special spill resistant design that protects the keyboard, touchpad, speakers, wireless and power switches and also protects the ports against dust.

Now, moving on the hardware components, we'll start by saying that the MobileDemand xTablet C1200 Tablet PC features a 12.1-inch (1280x800) convertible TFT backlit touch screen with a sunlight readable display option, while being powered by an Intel Core i5 520UM processor with Turbo Boost up to 1.86 GHz and Intel HM55 chipset with 2GB RAM standard and with up to 8GB of memory.

For storage, the rugged Tablet PC relies on a choice of 64GB-256GB Solid State drives (a shock-mounted HDD option is also available), while the tablet also comes with an Express 34 card slot, SDHC card reader, and I/O ports with USB, e-SATA, serial, audio and smart card reader, a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, as well as WLAN and WWAN compatibility, optional Bluetooth and Gobi 2000 radio for 3G communication and GPS.

“We have added the xTablet C1200 to fulfill the requirement of some of our customers for a rugged mobile tablet with a full-sized keyboard to enter large amounts of free form data,” said MobileDemand President, Matthew Miller.

“This xTablet convertible complements our popular xTablet slate computer line (xTablet T7000 and xTablet T8700) and allows us to serve our current customers better as well as open up new markets,” added Mr. Miller.

The xTablet C1200 is set to go into full production in March 2011, but, unfortunately, Mobile Demand's not providing any pricing information, so if you'd like to pre-order this rugged portable computing system or perhaps ever give it a try before hand, you'll have to contact the company directly.
