Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd will not return for a new season of The View on ABC and, with Barbara Walters’ retirement coming up, that leaves only Whoopi Goldberg on the panel. To fill up all those empty places, ABC has turned to Rosie O’Donnell, who’s been co-host before, back in the day when Elisabeth Hasselbeck was also on board.

Elisabeth is now with Fox & Friends and, as the first video embedded below can confirm, she is quite unhappy that ABC would give this huge platform to a woman who basically went on record saying that American military troops fighting abroad were terrorists.

It’s no secret that Rosie and Elisabeth never saw eye to eye but, if you’re not familiar with the situation, the second video below should offer you an appreciation of how bad things got when they co-hosted The View. This is a segment from the discussion on military troops.

Now, hearing that Rosie has been asked back on The View ruined Elisabeth’s vacation. She called in on Fox & Friends the other day, right after news broke but before ABC even confirmed it, to speak her mind on the issue.

“I know Rosie very well. We worked quite closely. Talk about not securing the border! Here in comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and really in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there, coming back with a bunch of control ready to regain a seat at the View table. Not surprising. I think this has been in the works for a long time,” she says.

She argues that Barbara Walters’ goodbye / reunion show was actually a comeback show for Rosie because she didn’t just organize the whole thing, but even produced the special. She knew from back then that she would be coming back but, even so, she half-hoped it would not happen because she can’t think of a worse person to be on that panel.

Elisabeth is also positive that Rosie will try to act like the next Barbara, in the sense that she will probably be bossing people around in a matter of seconds after she’s back. She should watch out for Whoopi though, because she’s definitely not the type to be controlled.

“Whoopi has an EGOT and has more trophies in her case than Rosie. She’s the leader. It will be very interesting to see how that goes. I don’t think it would be wise for Rosie O’Donnell to challenge Whoopi Goldberg on anything. I really don’t. And I would also say that after years of being there, Rosie found out one thing about me: don’t mess with a pregnant mama and do not mess with our military when it comes to this girl sitting next to her,” Elisabeth explains.

On the bright side, she’s thrilled she got out of The View in the nick of time, before she got to experience Rosie’s return first-hand, as it were. She’s equally thrilled to be with Fox & Friends, she adds.
