She’s out for the 2nd time, leaves door open to comeback

Rosie O’Donnell is done with ABC’s The View for the second time: the outspoken comedienne decided not to return on the show as co-host for another season, to have a bit more time to spend with her family, as they are having a rougher patch right now.

Word of this got out last weekend and was confirmed early at the start of the week by the network: Rosie is going through a divorce and wants to be there for her children as they’re adjusting to this new stage in their life. Being on the show would prevent her from doing that.

The other day was Rosie’s final appearance on the show, and as you can see in the video embedded below, her goodbye message barely lasted 40 seconds.

It’s true, Rosie had been on the show for only one season, but this still felt to viewers as if she was being very dismissive of the show and everyone involved here. As you probably heard, her return is said to have caused great friction on set, and many are still convinced that she was fired because of her rude behavior, not that she willingly left.

To her credit, though brief, Rosie was very polite. She thanked the fans and she thanked Barbara Walters for giving her a second chance as co-host. She also put in the effort to make it sound as if the split was amicable for everyone involved.

“We've had fun, and I hope we're gonna have more,” she said, leaving the door open to the possibility of coming back later down the road. “I'll come back and do an occasional crafting segment, 'cause I have a hot glue gun and I will travel. Thank you, it's been really fun.”
