With over one million copies sold, Blitz: The League has been an enormous success for Midway. This is the publisher's answer to EA's powerful hold on professional football games, as the title is based on fictionalized teams to avoid EA's exclusivity deal with ESPN and the NFL. According to Midway, the next-gen version of Blitz: The League will feature former NFL linebacker Bill Romanowski as its cover figure, along with former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor. They'll be staring back at you from the cover of the October Blitz: The League Xbox 360 release, as well as Blitz: The League Overtime for the PSP in November.

"We are excited to have Bill Romanowski, arguably one of the most feared and talented defensive football players of his time, working in conjunction with Midway to bring fans the first Blitz title on next generation systems," said Midway's chief marketing office Steve Allison.

Apart from showing on the cover, Bill Romanowski will also be doing the voice acting for one of the League's most prominent linebackers, the hated Bruno Batagglia. Bruno is the franchise player for the Baltimore Bearcats and plays a central role in the game's storyline. The four-time Super Bowl champion has a bad temper, as Romanowski earned a bad reputation for his numerous altercations with opponents and fellow team players. An admitted cocaine abuser, Taylor has struggled with drug addiction and in 2004 told 60 Minutes that after his playing career was over, he would spend thousands of dollars a day on crack and women. An athlete's life is never easy.
