Yahoo Messenger 11.5 was introduced a couple of weeks ago. The instant messaging client added quite a few features and changes, some of which have been requested for a lot of time. The latest update also brought support for a new language, Yahoo Messenger became available in Romanian for the first time.

Yahoo is now making the second step, it's starting to add localized content to Yahoo Insider as well, which is now available in a fully local version.

Yahoo Insider adds news from various fields, an email tab for your Yahoo Mail account, local weather and some other portal-type info. There are ads too, of course.

"At Yahoo! we take pride in providing a deeply personal experience to our users around the world," Yahoo wrote.

"A couple of weeks ago, we released a new version of Yahoo! Messenger which allows our users in Romania to use Yahoo! Messenger in Romanian language," it said.

"Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Yahoo! Insider in Romanian, delivering locally relevant news in native language to our users in Romania!," it announced.

Yahoo Insider sources stories from the Romanian version of Yahoo News. Yahoo Insider, which opens up in a different window from the contacts list window, can be disabled, but is enabled by default.

Yahoo has started making some moves to monetize on its rather big user base in the country. While it has been selling ads to big advertisers locally for a few years, to be placed inside Yahoo Messenger for example, it seems that Yahoo realized that there is a larger market it could address.

With its fortunes waning in many of its traditionally big markets, the company is looking to extract more from the places it's still popular in, before it slides into obscurity or at least irrelevance.
