Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 should receive the update soon as well

Canadian carrier Rogers recently refreshed its OS Upgrades scheduler with new information regarding the release dates for various major updates.

We already reported last month that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 were set to receive the long-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat update at Rogers, but it hasn’t happened yet.

It appears that only a small numbers of Rogers customers received the KitKat update on their Galaxy Note 3 units, but some seem to experience random reboots.

There’s a high chance that Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 benefited from a soft rollout at Rogers which did not go well. That’s probably one of the reasons the update is still tagged as “Coming Soon” on the carrier’s official website.

Anyway, Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 are not the only smartphones that are expected to receive a KitKat update in the coming weeks. As MobileSyrup points out, Rogers has just confirmed Sony Xperia Z1 will be getting an upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat soon.

Sony is rumored to kick off the rollout of KitKat for Xperia Z1 sometime in April, but various insiders claims the update might arrive even earlier than that.

Given Rogers has already posted the update as “Coming Soon” on its forums, we should expect Sony Xperia Z1 owners to start receiving Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the next couple of weeks.

Next in line is HTC Desire 601, which has already been confirmed by the Taiwanese handsets maker to get KitKat by the end of March.

Due to the fact that unlocked units are the first to receive a major software update, Rogers HTC Desire 601 should expect to be able to upgrade their devices a few days after HTC makes the upgrade official.

According to Rogers, Android 4.4.2 KitKat for HTC Desire 601 is “Coming Soon” and the same goes for the LG G2. The latter has already started to receive the update in the United States, but not all carriers made KitKat available for download yet.

Although Rogers states these OS releases are tentative dates that are subject to change, there’s nothing much that could change in this case given the carrier only mentioned KitKat upgrades for the smartphones listed are “Coming Soon.”

The worse can happen is Rogers delaying these updates more than other Canadian carriers, but that is less likely to happen. Stay tuned for more info on the matter.
