Only $299

When released by Rogers in Canada, RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9000 came with the hefty price of $399, plus the high fees that users had, and still have, to pay for three years. The smartphone still has this price tag now, but it looks like Rogers will soon make it cheaper with $100, hence it will cost only $299.

Of course, customers will still be required to sign a contract agreement for three years and to opt for a data plan of at least $45 per month, but this is good news nonetheless. All the more so, since the Bold comes with all those high-end features like GPS, Wi-Fi, the large 480 x 320 pixels display and many others.

The price drop should be effective starting the beginning of this month, so if you're in Canada and want to buy a Bold, wait a while longer until Rogers comes up with the new price. The 100 CAD that you save can easily be used to get yourself yet another new handset.

According to a Rogers pricing update document, found over at BlackBerry Cool, the company will also lower the prices of three Windows Mobile devices: Motorola Q9h, HTC Touch and Samsung Jack.

The most significant price drop will (positively) affect the Moto Q9h, as Rogers intends to offer the smartphone for only $49.99 with a three-year contract agreement, as opposed to its current $149.99 pricing. With the same three-year contract, HTC Touch will be sold for $39.99 (it currently costs $99.99), while Samsung Jack's price will be of 24.99 (a $25 price drop, from $49.99).

All in all, Rogers' customers will soon have several new price offerings that will surely be worth their consideration. And, as long as they're not aiming for a handset that's not yet commercially available (like the unique BlackBerry Flip 8220), any of the above-mentioned devices can very well become their next acquisition.
