One of the leaders of Rockstar has said that in the coming years the company is focusing on creating new “things”, which presumably means that there will be less releases for series like Red Dead , L.A. Noir and Max Payne.

Dan Houser, who is the creative leader of Rockstar, has told Dengeki, a Japanese magazine, that, “I think the future for us is to continue doing new things. Our games up to now have been different from any genre that existed at the time; we made new genres by ourselves with games like the GTA series. We didn’t rely on testimonials in a business textbook to do what we’ve done.”

He also says that one of the main secrets for the success of video game from his company was that they kept a number of creative teams working together, with the most important people staying with the company since its early days.

Houser added that his brother and Rockstar co-founder “likes to say that consumers see video games have to be fun if we expect consumers to lay out $50 or so for them, but the focus of my effort has been to make good games first and let the results come naturally after that.”

The developer also revealed that the team only releases games after making sure they are fun after long internal playing hours.

At the moment Max Payne 3 is being developed at the Vancouver studio of Rockstar, with a launch date now set for 2012 after a number of delays, and the company has just announced that Grand Theft Auto V is officially in development, with a full trailer set to appear on November 2.

Rumors are saying that the new game will take the open world template to a recreation of Las Vegas and that players will be able to play in 2013.
