Following rumors of "new" Grand Theft Auto IV episodic content making its way to the Xbox 360 in Rockstar's fiscal year 2009, reps of the development house have decided to clear the atmosphere and dismiss all speculation. The reality is that GTA IV's delay has affected the release schedule for the Xbox 360 exclusive episodic content, and pushed "the second" wave of DLC to fiscal 2009. That's all!

"A Rockstar rep told Next-Gen Wednesday that the content in question is merely the second of the two previously announced pieces of episodic content making their way to Xbox 360," says a piece up on Next-Gen.biz. "While both pieces of episodic content were initially scheduled to hit Xbox 360 in Take-Two's fiscal 2008, the second piece of content will now be available in fiscal 2009, a delay presumably brought about by the later than expected release of the highly anticipated title, which slipped from a planned 2007 debut to a 2008 fiscal second quarter (February 1 - April 30) release."

So much for new GTA IV content huh...?

According to statements from a senior executive at GTA IV publisher, Take-Two Interactive, $43 million is what the company received from all its Xbox 360 titles combined. So for Microsoft to pay 50 million to just see two exclusive episodes of the game means that they expect it to sell like crazy.

Take-Two had already recorded the payments in financial filings as deferred revenue, explained Lainie Goldstein, Take-Two's newly appointed CFO, in a conference call with analysts, back in June this year: "The first 25 [million] is for the first episodic content package that's supposed to go out and that is in March of 08", Goldstein said. "The second 25 [million] will be for the second episodic... the episode. That will be later in [the] fiscal year 2008."

That's just so everyone knows what the deal is with these two exclusive Xbox 360 GTA IV episodes.

Now, the frikkin game isn't even out yet, Rockstar has already confirmed additional episodic content for it, exclusive to the Xbox 360 console, and you want them to confirm NEW episodic content, all this while the game's release is being delayed? If so, you're too much into video games.
